VECTOR® styrenic block polymers (SBC’s) are a growing family of thermoplastic elastomers and flexible thermoplastic resins manufactured by Dexco Polymers LP. Dexco has developed proprietary polymer synthesis technology that provides unprecedented control of block copolymer composition and properties. Dexco Polymers LP offers very stable, narrow molecular weight styrenic block copolymers produced sequentially in an anionic polymerization process. These pure (virtually 100%) triblock copolymers contain no residual diblock and have excellent elastic properties.
VECTOR® SIS, SBS, and SIBS styrenic block polymers are frequently used in elastomeric films for hygiene and personal care applications where highly elastic properties are required. The linear, pure-block structure giving them superior elastomeric properties compared to conventionally polymerized, SBC’s produced by coupling process that contain 10-15% residual diblock copolymer. In addition, the outstanding elastic properties of VECTOR styrenic block polymers allow them to replace materials such as SEBS in select film applications.
VECTOR SBC grades for use in health care, being totally synthetic, lack the contaminants and the allergens found in natural rubber. Being thermoplastic eleastomers, they do not require cross-linking to develop strength. They are free of the taste, odor and nitrosamines that often accompany conventional rubber vulcanizates.
