A series of VECTORŽ styrenic block copolymers (SBC) are specifically designed for use in a wide range of adhesive and sealant applications such as disposables (assembly of baby diapers and training pants, adult incontinent products, feminine care pads etc.), tapes, labels, product assembly and construction adhesives. The ability of the hard styrene endblocks and soft elastomeric midblocks of these styrenic block copolymers to phase separate over a wide end-use temperature range makes them one of the key polymer tools used to formulate hot melt adhesives.

VECTOR SBC's come in a variety of compositions (isoprene or butadiene mid-block), styrene content (14 to 45%), and molecular architecture (linear, radial, tapered). In addition, Dexco Polymers LP, was the first to commercialize linear SIS and SBS triblocks, i.e., without residual SI or SB diblock component typically present in competitor coupling processes. Pure SIS and SBS triblocks provide enhanced elasticity, cohesive strength, and heat resistance required in more demanding applications such as packaging tapes. Where the presence of diblock brings desirable attributes, such as easier die-cutting of paper or film label laminates, it is made separately and volumetrically added to the triblock prior to finishing.

The adhesive compounder will experience new formulating flexibility not only with diblock-free VECTOR styrenic block copolymers but also with our unique 4-arm radial technology. These SBC's can achieve performance specifications using less elastomer by substituting lower-cost tackifier resins or extender oils. In addition, the diblock-free triblocks and 4-arm radial architecture can be used to develop high-performance adhesive products that are not achievable with lower strength SBC alternatives.

Coupling formulating flexibility with exceptional color and molecular stability from Dexco Polymers LP's precisely controlled processes provides to the compounder an opportunity to develop adhesives with competitive advantages.
